Don’t confuse consumers with stevia messages, industry
Stevia is not directly from the leaf, at about 40 to 1 sweetness to sugar with a distinct black licorice aftertaste (like used in XM3) is NOT stevia.
This highly concentrated stevia is made with dangerous highly chemical refining process undeclared as well as highly deceptive advertised to make consumers think it is all natural, which it is NOT!
Brand names like Sun Crystals, Truvia, Puriva, etc, bulk with dextrose, maltodextrin, sugar, starches, salts and are NOT zero calories.
Additionally, to get stevia to the 200 to 300 times concentration, many DANGEROUS chemicals are used – including artificial chemical enzymes, kerosene, alcohol, chlorine, ash, acids, titanium dioxide, arsenic, preservatives, chemical stabilizers, emulsifiers, clarifiers, to name only a few.
Are chemical versions of stevia safe, or of caloric benefit? No more so than Splenda, NutraSweet, Equal, Sweet N Low, etc. which are all unhealthy.

The take-home lesson of last week’s Stevia World Asia conference is that getting across the right message to consumers is key to growing the market.
