Totally fraudulent pr spin on maltitol, it was DENIED GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe Status) in a failed FDA petition in 1994 by Towa Chemical Of Japan because it causes bowel cancer in 62% of all ingestee animals at LOW ingestion levels.  Polyols and alcohol distilled sweeteners cause severe intestinal distress and cancer at any ingestion level, including sugarless chewing gums.  DO NOT CONSUME THEM!
