The indications of magnesium imbalance or deficiency can go virtually unnoticed. Magnesium is stored in most tissues, so leg cramps, foot pain or muscle ‘twitches’ and spasms may be an initial indication. Insomnia, pain, and headaches have demonstrated a relationship to low levels of magnesium and may lead to more significant signs of Magnesium deficiency.
Magnesium is an essential mineral in the human body and necessary for optimal health. From a biochemical perspective there are several hundred physiological functions that require magnesium including muscular contraction, digestion, energy production, bone formation, replication, activation of numerous enzymes, and organ system function including kidney, heart, adrenal gland, nervous system and brain. In fact, Magnesium is one of the most abundant mineral in the body. Fink et al (1971), found that magnesium deficiency is common and often undetected and yet the symptoms are so diverse that they may mask other disorders.
Premenstrual Symptoms or PMS is a name given to varied physical and psychological symptoms like abdominal bloating, breast tenderness, headache, fatigue, irritability, anxiety and depression that occur two to seven days before the onset of menstruation. Dr Guy Abraham, found that in most cases of PMS there are patterns of hormone imbalance that can be uncovered through testing. Dr. Carolyn Dean, states that magnesium deficiency may be involved in hormonal imbalance leading to premenstrual syndrome (PMS); dysmenorrhoea (cramping pain during menses), premature contractions, infertility, eclampsia and preeclampsia in pregnancy. Cellular magnesium levels in women with PMS are significantly lower than women who do not suffer PMS.
Insomnia or inability to sleep is another symptom of magnesium deficiency. If you find it difficult to sleep or find yourself waking up in the night with muscle spasms, cramps and stuffiness, you may be deficient in magnesium. Davis et al (1976) found that 99% of the patients on magnesium supplementation reported that sleep was induced rapidly and was uninterrupted. Waking tiredness disappeared, and anxiety and tension diminished during the day. No ill effects were noted on the patients participating in this 12-month long study. In the aging population, magnesium was found to improve sleep by decreasing the release of cortisol.
Osteoporosis affects 44 million Americans and current research has shown that magnesium is equally important to calcium in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. Magnesium comprises about 1 percent of the human bone matrix and helps our body assimilate calcium. As the magnesium content of bone mineral decreases, the bone cell lattice becomes less dense and more brittle. Sojka et al (1995) found decreased magnesium content and larger bone crystals in osteoporotic women and suggest that increased dietary magnesium would improve bone mineral density. Twitches and painful muscle cramping that awakens you up are a first sign of magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is needed for proper muscle relaxation and contraction, and excessive muscle tension. Magnesium is lost through bodily fluids, heavy sweat or loose stools and may lead to magnesium deficiency. Muscle cramping and other signs of low magnesium levels respond quickly and that include foods high in magnesium. Muscle strength is decreased in those with magnesium deficiency.
Magnesium has a beneficial cardiovascular effects on the cardiovascular system regulating blood pressure. Evidence suggests that decreased magnesium increases the risk of abnormal heart rhythms, and may have a relationship with the risk of complications associated with myocardial infarction. In 1998, Liao et al (1998) found that increased serum magnesium levels are associated with decreased risk of coronary heart disease in women. The DASH study (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) suggests that high blood pressure can be significantly lowered by consuming a diet high in magnesium, potassium and calcium.
Mauskop et al (1998) found individuals who suffer from recurrent migraine headache sufferers had lower intracellular magnesium levels than those who do not experience migraines. A deficiency of magnesium can also present psychiatric symptoms like depression, restlessness and irritability. Relationships have been established between decreased serum magnesium and depression, bipolar disorders, irritability, proper neural function and epileptic seizures.
The consumption green plants and legumes, nuts (almonds, cashews), soy, whole grains, pine nuts, and vegetables may supply a portion of your daily metabolic need for magnesium but with the damage to the food chain one may never know. Moringa oleifera is rich in bioavailable magnesium and when consumed as an enzymatically alive plant provides an abundant source of magnesium (3.68 mg per gram).

Andrea Curry ‘s pregnancy benefits using Zija testimony
During my first pregnancy I used Zija as an all natural alternative to over the counter prenatals, and I also took a folic acid supplement daily. This was okayed through my ob/gyn. My husband and I chose this route because we knew typical prenatals were not at all absorbed, but with Zija, 20 minutes after consumption the product was 100% absorbable.
About 8 months into my pregnancy we found out first hand just how true that was! Our daughter was laying in a position that was causing back spasms, causing me to vomit, and due to being so sick, I was dehydrated and having contractions. So I spent the night in the hospital getting fluids, only to find out that this was something I was going to have to ride out for the rest of the pregnancy. In a 24 hour period I threw up more than 30 times. I could not keep food or liquids down, so we put Zija to the ultimate test. My husband would mix up my Zija, and then the countdown would begin. After I would drink about 10 ounces I would fight for 20 min to keep it in my system. They sent me home on a Sunday afternoon with no particular advice other than I should except to not feel my baby move a lot. They said she would likely be sleeping most of the time due to lack of nutrition. (being told you won’t feel your baby move at 8 months pregnant is not something you want to hear)! They also said that I would see weight loss at my next doctors appointment, which was four days later on that following Thursday. The days leading up to that doctors appointment were not much different. Eating was difficult, the back spasms never eased up because for some reason my baby was not sleeping…she was as active as ever! So, although I was not able to eat food, she was getting nutrition from somewhere. I continued to struggle, but drank my Zija several times a day and made sure I kept it down for 20 minutes. When Thursday came and I stepped on the scale, the nurse informed me I had gained 3 pounds! That’s when we realized, there was much more to this product than we had originally thought!
After our daughter was born, I chose to breastfeed. I had read that Moringa Oleifera helped increase a nursing mothers milk supply. I was able to breastfeed for an entire year, which we were very thankful for. I am now pregnant with our second child, and I am still consuming Zija daily! At our first doctors appointment we told him that I would again use Zija as my prenatal, and he was very encouraging.
As a wife and mother, my family’s health is very important to me. Thanks to zija, I look forward to continuing to give my family the best nutrition there is to offer.

Last Night one of my business partners Jeana and I sat down with a potential Zija client at her house. When her Client David arrived I noticed something strange as he had this 4 day Fit Pack in one hand and a Grocery Bag in the other.
As we sat down at the Dinning room table David Asked if we had a plate he could barrow so Jeana proceeded to get David a plate and as she did David pulled out a Bottle of Moringa Capsules that he had bought at the local Health food Store and a bag of white sugar in the raw! As soon as David did this I knew exactly where he was headed with his little demonstration but I allowed him to continue on.
David took out 2 Of his Moringa Capsules and dumped them out of the Capsule on the plate, then he took some of his Sugar in the Raw and mixed it with his so called Moringa Leaf Powder. After doing so he pulled out a Sachet of Zija’s Smart Mix and opened it up and dumped half of it on the plate next to his concoction and proceeded to tell me that there was no way in the world that he or anyone he knew was going to pay $99.95 for a Case of Smart Mix when he could make his own Moringa for pennies on the dollar!
Zija Testimony:
My daughter had 6 stitches from falling and hitting the brick steps. I have put Zija oil on it twice a day since the day she got her stitches removed.

New review by International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) Nutrition Working Group examines role of nutrition in sarcopenia, with focus on protein, vitamins D and B, and acid-based diet. (Editor’s note: Moringa is alkaline, rich in Vit B, Vit D and Protein)
Sarcopenia, or the gradual loss of muscle mass, is a common consequence of ageing, and poses a significant risk factor for disability in older adults (Men lose 1% of their testosterone per year past the age of 40). As muscle strength plays an important role in the tendency to fall, sarcopenia leads to an increased risk of fractures and other injuries.
The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) Nutrition Working Group has published a new review which identifies nutritional factors that contribute to loss of muscle mass, or conversely, are beneficial to the maintenance of muscle mass. The Group reviewed evidence from worldwide studies on the role of nutrition in sarcopenia, specifically looking at protein, acid–base balance, vitamin D/calcium, and other minor nutrients like B vitamins.
“The most obvious intervention against sarcopenia is exercise in the form of resistance training,” said Professor Jean-Philippe Bonjour, co-author and Professor of Medicine at the Service of Bone Diseases, University of Geneva. “However, adequate nutritional intake and an optimal dietary acid-base balance are also very important elements of any strategy to preserve muscle mass and strength during ageing.”
The review discusses and identifies the following important nutritional factors that have been shown to be beneficial to the maintenance of muscle mass and the treatment and prevention of sarcopenia:
Emerging evidence also suggests that vitamin B12 and/or folic acid play a role in improving muscle function and strength.
As well, the Review discusses non-nutritional interventions such as hormones, and calls for more studies to identify the potential of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds in the prevention of sarcopenia.
Dr. Ambrish Mithal, co-author and Chair and Head of Endocrinology and Diabetes division at Medanta, New Delhi underlined the need for further research in the field. “Strategies to reduce the numbers of falls and fractures within our ageing populations must include measures to prevent sarcopenia. At present, the available evidence suggests that combining resistance training with optimal nutritional status has a synergistic affect in preventing and treating sarcopenia, “ said Mithal.
“We hope that further studies will shed light on other effective ways of preventing and treating this condition.”

The dietary total antioxidant capacity is a measure of all antioxidants present – including thousands of compounds present in the usual diet, factoring in possible synergistic effects. Alicja Wolk, from the Karolinska Institute (Sweden), and colleagues studied 32,561 Swedish women, ages 49 to 83 years, who were free of cardiovascular disease at the study’s start, and followed them for a ten-year period. The participants were surveyed for diet habits, and dietary total antioxidant capacity was calculated using oxygen radical absorbance capacity values. National hospital registries were utilized to track incidence of myocardial infarction (heart attack). During the follow-up period, 1114 cases of myocardial infarction occurred. The team calculated that the women with the highest quintile of dietary total antioxidant capacity (7 servings of fruits and vegetables per day) were at 20% lower risk of heart attack, as compared to those who were in the lowest quintile (2.4 servings of fruits and vegetables per day). The study authors conclude that: “These data suggest that dietary total antioxidant capacity, based on fruits, vegetables, coffee, and whole grains, is of importance in the prevention of myocardial infarction.” EDITOR’S NOTE: 46 DIFFERENT BIOAVAILABLE BIO-ACTIVE ANTI-OXIDANTS IN MORINGA OLEIFERA WILL EXPEDITE THE DIETARY ANTI-OXIDANT CAPACITY.

This blog recently posted an article suggesting methyl cellulose would be beneficial in weight loss.
I commented that not only is this article’s conclusion bogus and fraudulent marketing, but this unsafe chemical raw material is associated with cancer.
A frequent reader wrote me saying such conclusion, on my part, was “highly irresponsible”.
Well, the conclusion on methyl cellulose being “cancer causing” is not mine, but the of The Medical Dictionary, online, with published vetted referee journal data, including thorough irrefutable correlation to thyroid cancer, causing hyper trophy and alteration in gene expression (erosion of telomere integrity) from methyl cellulose ingestion, and triggering thyroid malignancy.
Additionally, there are many online references (www.webmd.com, The New England Journal Of Medicine, etc.), in correlation to the carcinogenic dangers of methyl cellulose linked to severe intestinal distress, microlacerations in the gut and intestines, secondary internal infections, internal bleeding, bloating, diarrhea and dysentery, as well as colon distress, breast and lymphatic cancer, hormonal irregularity, and pancreatic cancers, all from methyl cellulose ingestion.
Whom should be using this unsafe chemical harsh ingredient? The marketers of it and terrorists.
Was my statement “highly irresponsible”? NO.

I have been asking for Moringa stories for a few months now and have received 10 to date. Obviously you need some stimulation because there are a lot of stories around. These are some everyday occurrences that are common for people without the benefit of our proprietary mixture. Thing of how powerful our stories should be!
I have just started using Moringa, say for about a month now. Surprisingly I have observed tremendous positive changes in my health condition. Firstly my High Blood pressure has improved greatly now almost always recording 120/75; my diabetes now recording a fasting of 6.5-7.2 vis-a-vis 9 -10 about two months ago. The most dramatic evidence occured about a week ago Tuesday 1/6/10 when I woke up with a very serious cold with my throat scalded. My wife advised I should drink the moringa tea instead of the Vitamin C tablets. As soon as I drank the tea, in less than 30 minutes the pain had disappeared in the throat and it was as if it was never there. I am shedding weight as well. Despite all these I am still watching this wonder plant. It seems the poor are at the threshold of having a God sent drug and nutritional goodies.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
My was diagnosed diabetic last year and my goddad prescribed Moringa tea for me. It was so bad i had to live on insulin but he promised me i wouldn’t need the insulin sometime to come. i thought it was one of those many tales but I can say boldly that ever since I started my moringa therapy, i haven’t need reporting to my physician, talkless of taking an insulin shot. I am healed and who does the trick? God through Moringa!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I have what doctors call “dry eyes” and need to buy tear drops and eye moisteners. I am 60 years old. Within in 5 minutes after taking a teaspoon of moringa powder in 8 ozs of water, lubrication burst into my eyes and I was amazed! I now have only been taking moringa for 5 days now, but will continue to take it and enjoy whatever other benefits I can receive ! I am very happy not to have to buy any more pharmaceutical tear drops — which only help for an hour or two…..

I have been a 250/110 bp during my tours as a merchant sailor, it always register in my medical exam as per pre-employment qualification overseas until my retirement that i started to use Moringa Tea till now. Everything is normal now I mean my bp and am not taking anymore of my maintainance drug but Moringa Tea instead. For all you know indeed everything is a miracle and besides i got no other ailments since in five years of my retirement, am almost 60 yrs of age now but feels like 40. There are no overdose or no limits of intake and for sure you’ll feel instant results. In my google research it’s a cure for 300 diseases including to include malignant diseases like cancer.

Geneva, Switzerland (24 September, 2012) – A new multi-national survey reveals the extent of misconceptions about when is the right time to start taking action to prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD). In a four-country survey sample of 4,000 adults, 49 per cent answered age 30 years or older when asked at what age they believe people should start to take action about their heart health to prevent conditions such as heart disease and stroke. The fact is that CVD can affect people of all ages and population groups, and the risk begins early in life through unhealthy diets, lack of physical activity and exposure to tobacco. On World Heart Day, 29th September, the World Heart Federation is calling for people – specifically mothers who are gatekeepers to the home – to take action now to protect their own heart health, as well as that of their children and families to safeguard future generations.
“The fact is that good heart health starts from childhood. We have an opportunity to change the course of CVD and its global impact, by encouraging and supporting heart-healthy living from an early age. On World Heart Day, over 150 countries are joining together to encourage individuals, families, communities and governments to take action to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke amongst women and children,” said Professor Sidney C. Smith Jr, MD, President, World Heart Federation.
The new multi-national survey conducted in Brazil, India, UK and the USA by the World Heart Federation and supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Frédérique Constant, reveals that:
CVD risk factors such as physical inactivity, unhealthy eating, overweight/obesity and tobacco use can have lifelong consequences for men, women and children. During foetal development, maternal malnutrition, both under- and over- nutrition, can increase the chances of developing future risk factors associated with CVD. Children who have a birth weight of less than 2.5 kilograms have approximately double the risk of dying prematurely from coronary heart disease1. For expectant mothers, CVD can present a double burden – protecting the heart health of their unborn child and protecting themselves against the risk of CVD, as heart disease is the world’s number one killer, affecting 1 in 3 women worldwide. EDITOR’S NOTE: THE NUTRITION PROVIDED BY MORINGA OLEIFERA IS SIGNIIFCANT ENOUGH TO ALTER THESE STATISTICS

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A new study has outlined for the first time a biological mechanism by which zinc deficiency can develop with age, leading to a decline of the immune system and increased inflammation associated with many health problems, including cancer, heart disease, autoimmune disease and diabetes.
The research was done by scientists in the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University and the OSU College of Public Health and Human Sciences. It suggests that it’s especially important for elderly people to get adequate dietary intake of zinc, since they may need more of it at this life stage when their ability to absorb it is declining.
About 40 percent of elderly Americans and as many as two billion people around the world have diets that are deficient in this important, but often underappreciated micronutrient, experts say.
The study was published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, based on findings with laboratory animals. It found that zinc transporters were significantly dysregulated in old animals. They showed signs of zinc deficiency and had an enhanced inflammatory response even though their diet supposedly contained adequate amounts of zinc.
When the animals were given about 10 times their dietary requirement for zinc, the biomarkers of inflammation were restored to those of young animals.
“The elderly are the fastest growing population in the U.S. and are highly vulnerable to zinc deficiency,” said Emily Ho, an LPI principal investigator and associate professor in OSU School of Biological and Population Health Sciences. “They don’t consume enough of this nutrient and don’t absorb it very well.”
“We’ve previously shown in both animal and human studies that zinc deficiency can cause DNA damage, and this new work shows how it can help lead to systemic inflammation,” Ho said.
“Some inflammation is normal, a part of immune defense, wound healing and other functions,” she said. “But in excess, it’s been associated with almost every degenerative disease you can think of, including cancer and heart disease. It appears to be a significant factor in the diseases that most people die from.”
As a result of this and what is now know about zinc absorption in the elderly, Ho said that she would recommend all senior citizens take a dietary supplement that includes the full RDA for zinc, which is 11 milligrams a day for men and 8 milligrams for women. Zinc can be obtained in the diet from seafood and meats, but it’s more difficult to absorb from grains and vegetables – a particular concern for vegetarians. EDITOR’S NOTE: MORINGA OLEIFERA IS AN EXCELLENT SOURCE HIGH IN BIOAVAILABLE ZINC THAT IS EASILY ABSORBED WHEN THE PLANT IS ENZYMATICALLY ALIVE
“We found that the mechanisms to transport zinc are disrupted by age-related epigenetic changes,” said Carmen Wong, an OSU research associate and co-author of this study. “This can cause an increase in DNA methylation and histone modifications that are related to disease processes, especially cancer. Immune system cells are also particularly vulnerable to zinc deficiency.”
Research at OSU and elsewhere has shown that zinc is essential to protect against oxidative stress and help repair DNA damage. In zinc deficiency, the risk of which has been shown to increase with age, the body’s ability to repair genetic damage may be decreasing even as the amount of damage is going up.
Medical tests to determine zinc deficiency are rarely done, scientists say, and are not particularly accurate even if they are done. The best approach is to assure adequate intake of the nutrient through diet or supplements, they said, especially in the elderly.
Even though elderly people have less success in absorbing zinc, the official RDA for them is the same as in younger adults. That issue should be examined more closely, Ho said.
Levels of zinc intake above 40 milligrams per day should be avoided, researchers said, because at very high levels they can interfere with absorption of other necessary nutrients, including iron and copper.
These studies were supported by the National Institutes of Health and other agencies.
About the Linus Pauling Institute: The Linus Pauling Institute at OSU is a world leader in the study of micronutrients and their role in promoting optimum health or preventing and treating disease. Major areas of research include heart disease, cancer, aging and neurodegenerative disease.

“We are all able to control the speed at which the physiological clock ticks. No one was born with a best before date on the bottom of their foot. There is a hierarchy which must be addressed by our actions that affects this. I have noticed that a number of people seem to focus on the external appearance hopefully this is as a result of maintenance of inner homeostasis. There is a triage system present in all of us that dictates physiological change, and all related to ATP and of course starts with diet. If it didn’t the bolus of food in your stomach would turn into a septic bolus, and that would be the end of it as the bacterial count rose……. As a general rule those who are considered to be the experts or formulators in the field of nutrition have a step up on the rest of us. Many of us in medical and nutritional research have been involved in seeking out the optimal formulations to maximize the nutritional needs, and get away from the ethylene glycol excipient coated pretenders. Those of us who lecture try to tailor specific regimens based on the individual needs of the patient. Although there are many broad spectrum phyto-nutrients that are head and shoulders beyond most of the adulterated, isolated modified, extracted nonsense currently passing as nutrition today, it is still a specialized individual protocol for specific situations. It is not something that I personally discuss in open forum other than to offer the caveat….. get as much of your nutrition from plants…. genetically man is a vegetarian as evidenced by dentition, lack of claws and minimal HCl concentration in the stomach….non-GMO plants make your best source of nutrition…. the closer to raw, organic enzymatically alive the better…. amino acids from plants will make all tissues, hormones, enzymes, immunoglobulins, neurotransmitters required the least amount of ATP to carry out the process. Not isolates or adulterated versions. When you consider antioxidant availability, you are far better off examining the empirical evidence from whole foods that have demonstrating the ability to confer protection in millions of cases, as opposed to naively considering ORAC (you might consider Russ Bianchi’s ‘False Scales Of Comparison’ essay at www.russbianchi.com), or biophotonic scanning, as the be all and end all. So eating fruit and veggies is great not to mention enzymatically active moringa found only in Zija®. Plants are meant to be the whole source of nutrition as long as they are not adulterated.”
ScienceDaily (Oct. 2, 2012) — At a time when the value of gold has reached an all-time high, Michigan State University researchers have discovered a bacterium’s ability to withstand incredible amounts of toxicity is key to creating 24-karat gold.
