‘Provocative’: Prenatal folic acid supplements linked to lower risk of autism for kids

In CategoryAutism, Baby/Children/Teen Health, Nutrition Supplementation
ByRuss Bianchi

1200 mcgs per day of folic acid is recommended for all expecting mothers per many practicing OB/GYN’s.

Argumentation you can get nutrient absorption in traditional prenatal vitamins, grandfathered into the prenatal protocols in the 1950′s (no science behind them), of most necessary vitamins and minerals, is not only FALSE, in point of FACT 78 percent of women will lie to their OB/GYN,’s they are compliant, when they are not in taking the prenatal vitamins.

Why?

Because the B6 and B12 vitamins in these prenatals are rendered chemically from the intestines of pigs, in slaughter houses, and are non-absorbable. This in turn causes nausea in women with heightened olfactory (smell) sensitivity, to protect themselves and the fetus.

Thus, we see, and can empirically measure, much higher rates of preeclampsia, spina bifida, birth defects cesarean deliveries, as well as premature deliveries, costing all of us more money in drugs, procedures, hospitalization and insurance premiums!

Said another way, of the 4.3 million or so successful birth per year, in North America, births have been sucked into the Big Pharma and Sick Care revenue generation model!

Has it been consistently nutritionally measured, and reported, among pregnant women, they and their babies are better off, under their chosen OB/GYN’s supervision, to be on 1200 mcgs of folic acid per day, a proper nutritional diet, and the use of Zija Smart Mix? The answer is “YES”.

Additionally, autism is further heightened by the use of harmful and nutrient dead infant formulas (instead of mothers’ breast milk which has been superior since the human species has existed) as well as the use of proven harmful injections/vaccines/boosters/flu shots, Big Pharma is aggressively hawking and pimping.

Read ‘THE TRUTH ANOUT THE DRUG COMPANIES’ by Dr. Marcia Angell, MD, retired Editor and Chief of The New England Journal Of Medicine, and the brand new book out from Dr. Robert Lustig, MD, Professor Of Pediatrics and Endocrinology at the University Of California San Francisco Medical School, ‘FAT CHANCE’.

Calcium plus vitamin D3 supplementation facilitated fat loss in overweight and obese college students with very-low calcium consumption: a randomized controlled trial

In CategoryNutrition Supplementation
ByRuss Bianchi

Zhu, W et al Nutrition Journal 2013, 12:8 doi:10.1186/1475-2891-12-8

Recent evidence suggests that higher calcium and/or vitamin D3 intake may be associated with lower body weight and better metabolic health. The greater decrease in fat mass observed in the calcium+D group of the current study could result from several factors attributing to calcium metabolism.  A calcium-rich diet is shown to increase fat oxidation, promote fat cell apoptosis, and reduce lipid

absorption due to the formation of insoluble calcium-fatty acid soaps in the intestine, which are eventually excreted in the feces. A high dietary calcium intake is associated with suppression of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (1,25-(OH)2D) levels which in turn act to decrease calcium influx into the cell. These modifications consequently stimulate lipolysis

and inhibit lipogenesis in the adipocyte leading to decreased creation of fat and increased fat breakdown. The findings of the current study are consistent with the majority of previously published clinical trials, showing supplementation of calcium plus vitamin D3 for 12 weeks facilitated body fat and visceral fat loss during energy restriction in overweight or obese very low calcium consumers.

What this means to those who consume Moringa oleifera which provides significant amounts of calcium with a 73% absorption rate and a 59% retention rate, far greater than the 25% absorption from calcium supplements, is that in the winter months, Vitamin D3 intake will promote decreasing fat mass.

Omega-3 Supplements May Slow A Biological Effect of Aging

In CategoryAging, Nutrition Supplementation
ByRuss Bianchi

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Taking enough omega-3 fatty acid supplements to change the balance of oils in the diet could slow a key biological process linked to aging, new research suggests.

The study showed that most overweight but healthy middle-aged and older adults who took omega-3 supplements for four months altered a ratio of their fatty acid consumption in a way that helped preserve tiny segments of DNA in their white blood cells. EDITOR’S NOTE: CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU CONSUMED A HEALTHY AMOUNT OF PLANT BASED OMEGA 3s ON A DAILY BASIS?

These segments, called telomeres are known to shorten over time in many types of cells as a consequence of aging. In the study, lengthening of telomeres in immune system cells was more prevalent in people who substantially improved the ratio of omega-3s to other fatty acids in their diet.  EDITOR’S NOTE:  OMEGA 3s ARE THE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY FATTY ACID NOW THINK ABOUT THE BENEFIT OF THE OTHER 35 ANTI-INFLAMMATORIES IN MORINGA OLEIFERA

Omega-3 supplementation also reduced oxidative stress, caused by excessive free radicals in the blood, by about 15 percent compared to effects seen in the placebo group.

Jan Kiecolt-Glaser

“The telomere finding is provocative in that it suggests the possibility that a nutritional supplement might actually make a difference in aging,” said Jan Kiecolt-Glaser, professor of psychiatry and psychology at Ohio State and lead author of the study.

In another recent publication from this study, Kiecolt-Glaser and colleagues reported that omega-3 fatty acid supplements lowered inflammation in this same group of adults.EDITOR’S NOTE: SEE COMMENT ABOVE

“Inflammation in particular is at the heart of so many health problems. Anything that reduces inflammation has a lot of potentially good spinoffs among older adults,” she said.

Study participants took either 2.5 grams or 1.25 grams of active omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are considered “good fats” that, when consumed in proper quantities, are associated with a variety of health benefits. Participants on the placebo took pills containing a mix of oils representing a typical American’s daily intake. EDITOR’S NOTE: THE PROPER RATIO IS SUPPOSED TO BE OMEGA 6:OMEGA 3, 2:1, BUT THE TYPICAL AMERICAN DIET IS AROUND 18:1)

The researchers say this combination of effects suggests that omega-3 supplements could represent a rare single nutritional intervention that has potential to lower the risk for a host of diseases associated with aging, such as coronary heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, arthritis and Alzheimer’s disease.

Martha Belury

The study is published online and scheduled for later print publication in the journal Brain, Behavior, and Immunity.

Participants received either the placebo or one of the two different doses of omega-3 fatty acids. The supplements were calibrated to contain a ratio of the two cold-water fish oil fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), of seven to one. Previous research has suggested that EPA has more anti-inflammatory properties than DHA.

In the case of fatty acids, omega-3 supplementation alone doesn’t tell the whole story of how this dietary change can affect health, explained Martha Belury, professor of human nutrition at Ohio State and a co-author of the study. Also important is the ratio of omega-6 fatty acids to omega-3 fatty acids that are present in a person’s blood.

Omega-6 fatty acids come from vegetable oils, and since the 1960s, research has suggested that these oils, too, can help protect the cardiovascular system. However, the typical American diet tends to be heavy on omega-6 fatty acids and comparatively low in omega-3s that are naturally found in cold-water fish such as salmon and tuna. While the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids averages about 15-to-1, researchers tend to agree that for maximum benefit, this ratio should be lowered to 4-to-1, or even 2-to-1.

Ron Glaser

The long chains – or bigger molecules – that make up EPA and DHA fatty acids are believed to be the secret to their effectiveness, Belury said.

Both groups of participants who took omega-3 supplements showed, on average, lengthening of telomeres compared to overall telomere effects in the placebo group, but the relationship could have been attributed to chance. However, when the researchers analyzed the participants’ omega-6 to omega-3 ratio in relationship to telomere lengthening, a lower ratio was clearly associated with lengthened telomeres.

“The idea we were looking at with the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids was an increase in the denominator to make the ratio smaller. In the United States, we need to focus on the omega-3 part because we don’t get enough of those,” Belury said.

The researchers also measured levels of compounds called F2-isoprostanes to determine levels of oxidative stress, which is linked to a number of conditions that include heart disease and neurodegenerative disorders. Both omega-3 groups together showed an average overall 15 percent reduction in oxidative stress compared to effects seen in the placebo group. EDITOR’S NOTE:  THE PICTURE OF WHY WE SEE SO MANY EMPIRICAL BENEFITS FROM PEOPLE WHO TAKE MORINGA OLEIFERA DAILY SHOULD BE STARTING TO GET CLEARER.

When the scientists revisited their earlier inflammation findings, they also found that decreases in an inflammatory marker in the blood called interleukin-6 (IL-6) were associated with telomere lengthening. In their earlier paper on omega-3s and inflammation, they reported that omega-3 supplements lowered IL-6 by 10 to 12 percent, depending on the dose. By comparison, those taking a placebo saw an overall 36 percent increase in IL-6 by the end of the study.

“This finding strongly suggests that inflammation is what’s driving the changes in the telomeres,” Kiecolt-Glaser said. Telomeres are a hot topic in science, and their tendency to shorten is associated with such age-related problems as heart disease and early mortality. These short fragments of DNA act as caps at the end of chromosomes, and can be likened to the protective plastic at the end of a shoelace. EDITOR’S NOTE: TAKE MORINGA OLEIFERA DAILY LIVE LONGER AND HEALTHIER!!!!!!

“If that plastic comes off, the shoelace unravels and it doesn’t work anymore,” said study co-author Ron Glaser, professor of molecular virology, immunology and medical genetics and director of the Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research (IBMR) at Ohio State. “In the same way, every time a cell divides, it loses a little bit of its DNA at the ends, and over time, that can cause significant problems.”  EDITOR’S NOTE: TAKE MORINGA OLEIFERA DAILY LIVE LONGER AND HEALTHIER!!!!!!

Kiecolt-Glaser noted that this population was disease-free and reported very little stress. The study included 106 adults, average age 51 years, who were either overweight or obese and lived sedentary lives. The researchers excluded people taking medications to control mood, cholesterol and blood pressure as well as vegetarians, patients with diabetes, smokers, those routinely taking fish oil, people who got more than two hours of vigorous exercise each week and those whose body mass index was either below 22.5 or above 40.

“People who are less healthy than this group, and especially those who experience chronic stress, may gain even more benefits from omega-3 supplementation,” she said.  EDITOR’S NOTE: TAKE MORINGA OLEIFERA DAILY LIVE LONGER AND HEALTHIER!!!!!!

Co-authors of the study include Elissa Epel, Jue Lin and Elizabeth Blackburn of the University of California, San Francisco; Rebecca Andridge and Beom Seuk Hwang of Ohio State’s College of Public Health; and William Malarkey of the IBMR.

Iron Deficiency in Children diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

In CategoryAttention Deficit Disorder, Baby/Children/Teen Health, Nutrition Supplementation
ByRuss Bianchi
Summary: In a multiphase, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study involving 52 children (6 to 14 year olds, mean age: 10 years) diagnosed with moderately severe ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), mean ferritin concentration was found to be 18.4 ng/mL, with 23% of subjects having levels below 7 (the assay-defined threshold for iron deficiency). Interestingly, serum ferritin was found to be inversely associated with baseline inattention, hyperactivity/impulsivity, and total ADHD symptom scores. A history of treatment with psychotropic drugs moderated some of these associations, with previously medicated children showing an even stronger association between serum ferritin concentration and ADHD symptom severity. The authors conclude, “The prediction of amphetamine optimal dose by ferritin concentration suggests that iron supplementation should be investigated as a potential intervention to optimize response to psychostimulants at a lower dose in individuals with low iron stores and ADHD.”

Supplementation with Long-Chain Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids May benefit Patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome

In CategoryNutrition Supplementation, Other Human Health Conditions

Zija® is a good source of omega fatty acids from moringa.

~ Uncle Russ

In a study involving 32 patients with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and 59 controls, results suggest that supplementation with long-chain omega-3 fatty acids may be beneficial. Serum samples were obtained from patients and controls. IBS patients showed decreased serum concentrations of arachidonic acid and long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (docosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid) and increased concentrations of unsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, compared with controls. Thus, the authors of this study conclude, “Although organic disease has been ruled out in patients with IBS, they presented signs of inadequate supply of long-chain fatty acids. Supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids may be implicated.”

The Department Of Defense has KNOWINGLY provided harmful and mind altering drug accelerants, as well as addictive antidepressants, to ‘in theater’ combative platoon soldiers (mostly enlisted) which has caused not only an increased suicide rates, but massive documented violent behavior assaults, by returning vets on their friends and families, in the tens of thousands.

~ Uncle Russ

Supplementation With Cinnamon May Benefit Type 2 Diabetics

In CategoryBlood Glucose Conditions, Food and More, Nutrition Supplementation
ByRuss Bianchi
Summary: In a randomized, placebo-controlled study involving 58 men and women with type 2 diabetes, results indicate that supplementation with cinnamon may exert beneficial effects. The subjects were randomized to 2 g of cinnamon or placebo daily for a period of 12 weeks. At intervention end, significant decreases in HbA1c (-.36%), mean systolic and diastolic blood pressures (-3.4 mm Hg and -5 mm Hg, respectively), fasting plasma glucose, waist circumference and body mass index was observed in the cinnamon group, compared with the placebo group. Thus, the authors of this study conclude, “Intake of 2g of cinnamon for 12 weeks significantly reduces the HbA1c, SBP and DBP among poorly controlled type 2 diabetes patients. Cinnamon supplementation could be considered as an additional dietary supplement option to regulate blood glucose and blood pressure levels along with conventional medications to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.”
