The fine people over at CBS’ 60 Minutes (part of the “lamestream” media) ran a hit job on ‘sugar’ over the weekend in their broadcast.
Did you happen to catch the sponsors for the show? Hmmmmm….
As many of you know, Dr. Robert H. Lustig, MD, Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, at UCSF Medical School, has been a long term warrior against High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), and the massive adverse impact it is having on our food, drug, and beverage chain, as well as our bodies.

The (so-called) editors at 60 Minutes would have you believe that Sugar and HFCS (and other sugar derivatives) are the same chemically and recognized the same in the body; Do Not Be Fooled By These LIARS My Friends!
ALL SUGARS ARE NOT ‘SUGAR’ (per even the US Federal Code Of Regulations defining what ‘sugar’ really is)!
HFCS (glucose or glucose-fructose in Canada) and Sugar are radically and fundamentally different chemically, molecularly, physically, metabolically, economically in cost, and in sweetness value, and they are not processed at all the same way in the human body.
In short, Sugar’ is recognized by the body and converted to blood glucose, and HFCS is converted primarily to stored body fat and blood triglycerides.
Sugar, as I have always advised, should be consumed in moderation, but HFCS causes obesity, diabetes, depression, heart disease, cancer, at any ingestion level, and HFCS should NEVER consumed at any level!
These FACTS are irrefutable, and the Corn Refiner’s Association is currently being SUED (article on the court case in Los Angeles is posted on this blog recently) for falsely, deceptively, illegally, fraudulently, trying to call HFCS “Corn Sugar”.
Chemistry does not LIE, the Corn Refiner’s Association does!
A chemically created monosaccharide (HFCS) that is 1.41 times sweeter than cane sugar (a disaccharide) are NOT the same.
HFCS crystallizes at 65 degrees F and burns at 140 degrees F, cane sugar crystallized at 20 degrees F and burns at 228.5 degrees F.
These facts have also been documented in this blog previously, and there are several thousands books and hard science to back it up, in the recommended reading section of this web site, as well as the video section.
Said another way, if I squeeze a cane stalk in Hawaii, I get real cane sugar. If I squeezed a corn cob in the Mid West, I do not get 55 DE HFCS!
